Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 2026
Mocha Joe is a guide to good coffee, written by the people who drink it. These Guidelines are what keeps it worth reading. They apply to reviews, photos, tags, shop submissions and to how you treat other people here.
What Belongs in a Review
Your own visit, in your own words. What you ordered, what it was like, whether you would go back. A review is useful because somebody actually went.
Negative is fine. We do not remove a review for being unflattering, and no shop can pay to have one taken down.
What Does Not
Anything abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening or demeaning, including toward a shop or its staff. Sexually explicit content. Anything illegal.
Reviews of a place you have not been, reviews of your own shop, reviews traded for anything, and anything posted to drive a rating up or down. Spam, advertising and links to somewhere else.
Other people's private information. Photographs of people who did not agree to be in them.
We Remove Objectionable Content and Abusive Accounts
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that breaks these Guidelines is removed. An account that posts it, or that harasses or abuses anybody here, is removed too, and we do not need to warn you first.
A shop owner claiming a listing they do not own, and anybody posting a review they did not earn, falls under the same rule.
How to Report Something
Open the menu on any review that is not yours and choose Report. Pick a reason, add a note if there is more to say, and send it. Every report reaches a person.
One report does not hide anything on its own, on purpose: that would let one account silence anybody. A report puts the content in front of us, and we decide.
If something needs attention faster than that, write to jill@mochajoe.coffee.
